Other CEU classes Coming in April--Terry Norman Terry Norman has been performing Tuina for over 35 years. He has studied in many different schools both in the U.S. and China, and has over 6600 hours of study in a variety of fields within bodywork and Asian healing arts such as acupressure, Tuina (Chinese medical massage), and Sports Tuina. Terry is Nationally Certified with the NCBTMB (National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork), is a National CE Provider through the NCBTMB, and serves on Exam Committee that develops the national exam for massage therapy. He is a Certified Instructor with the AOBTA (American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia). He has studied Tuina at the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shanghai, while doing clinical practice at the Yue Yang Hospital. Later he was with the first group of foreign students to study Sports Tuina at the Olympic Training Center in Beijing. In 1996, Terry became the first foreign therapist to be allowed to study Sports Tuina at the Olympic Training Center on an individual basis, along with being one of a very limited number of western therapist allowed to actually work on Olympic athletes. He also did internship studies at area hospitals and clinics in Beijing. Many of the techniques Terry learned at the Olympic Training Center in China are unknown to sports therapist and athletic trainers in the West. Terry has a growing practice in Texas, where he works on a varied clientele who suffer from such conditions as: stroke, neuromuscular dysfunctions, MS, sports injuries, fibromyalgia, tinnitus, allergies, migraines, tendonitis, orthopedic injuries, arthritis, neurologic and stress related disorders. Along with performing therapy, Terry teaches acupressure, Tuina, Sports Tuina and Traditional Chinese Medicine locally at area colleges, physical therapy clinics and massage schools. He also teaches beginning, intermediate and advance classes in Tuina and Chinese medicine. And in 2001, Terry developed the first certification program in the country in Asian Bodywork at the Atlanta School of Massage. To date, Terry has written several instructional manuals on acupressure, Tuina, Sports Tuina, Point Location and Traditional Chinese Medicine and produced the first instructional video on Sports Tuina in the United States. Acupressure 2 This course is a
continuation of Acupressure I. We
will cover life-style changes that can lead to a healthier and pain free life,
such as Yoga flexibility stretches, and the six (6) conditions of good health.
We will continue with the acupressure and massage procedures learned in
the first course by learning a full body massage using acupressure, and a
procedure using energy releasing and orthopedic massage techniques.
Although both courses teach fundamental techniques for the lay-person,
professional massage therapist, physical therapist, and chiropractic
practitioners can learn valuable and powerful techniques that can enhance their
practices. Prerequisites: Acupressure I, or permission of instructor. Times: 9:30 am - 5 pm Dates: April 2nd & 3rd What to Bring: Something to write with and a notebook Call Cindy Falke at 806-672-8925 for more information or to sign up for this class.
